Due to its age, there are signs of rust, dirt, and wire breakage. Please only purchase if you understand this. I will use it myself if it doesn't sell, so I am not considering price reductions. Approximately 311g Solid and substantial construction with a heavy feel. While many saber-style old military swords are listed, one with such intricate carvings on the hilt is quite rare, isn't it? It is highly likely that this was possessed by an officer. I am not an expert, so I cannot determine its authenticity. Please judge from the images. *Upon research, it is highly possible that this is a command sword for a field officer. Information suggests that field officer swords have a full-surface carving of cherry blossoms and leaves on the back metal. #JapaneseSwordFittings For reference: ◇AI Research (Gemini) According to the specifications (official regulations) of military swords at the time, the density of decoration was determined by rank. ⚪︎ Officers (Warrant Officers and above) The hilt's back metal (the metal part that touches the palm) and guard are decorated with **carvings of cherry blossoms and leaves (high relief carving)**, as shown in the photos. The higher the rank, or the more custom-made it is due to personal preference, the more luxurious the carvings become. ⚪︎ Non-commissioned Officers and Enlisted Men The carvings are almost non-existent, or only partially present, or simply have grooves for grip.
