This is a hanging scroll meticulously reproduced by Otsuka Kogei-sha, based on a masterpiece by Korin Ogata. Otsuka Kogei-sha was founded by Minoru Otsuka in the Taisho era, inspired by Taikan Yokoyama's proposal to create Kogei-ga (artistic reproductions) using photogravure and printing technology. Later, top-tier painters, who also handle restoration of ancient artworks, hand-colored each piece with the same pigments as the original, establishing a unique position as Kogei-ga, distinct from mere forgeries. Today, these reproductions are highly regarded as first-class replicated artworks. While an original work by Korin Ogata would be extremely expensive, reproductions by Otsuka Kogei-sha, known for their excellent texture reproduction, are traded for tens of thousands to over a hundred thousand yen. This item was kept at my maternal grandparents' home in Kyoto. It shows no signs of use and is in excellent condition. Click here for the manufacturer's site
