A stunning matched set of two vintage Chinese hexagonal lacquered wood boxes — sophisticated decorative pieces with a deep dark burgundy / oxblood lacquer exterior in a rich high-gloss finish. Each box features a solid brass front clasp with a decorative cloud-shaped drop latch and two brass hinges on the back, opening to reveal a lush green velvet/felt lined interior. The hexagonal tapered form is beautifully architectural. Labeled on the bottom: ART. NO. C-1157 / MADE IN THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA — classic Chinese export lacquerware craftsmanship consistent with late 20th century (1970s–1980s) PRC export production. These are the kind of pieces that look expensive on a shelf — jewelry boxes, trinket holders, or pure decorative objects. Approximately 5.5 inches tall, hexagonal top approximately 5–6 inches across. ✦ CONDITION: Used, as-is. Both boxes have lacquer chipping and peeling at corners — most visible at lid edges. See all photos. Green felt interiors intact. Brass hardware fully functional. ✦ DETAILS: Height: approx. 5.5 inches each Width: approx. 5–6 inches across hexagon Lacquer: Dark burgundy/oxblood high-gloss exterior Hardware: Brass clasp + hinges Interior: Green velvet/felt lined Bottom label: ART. NO. C-1157, Made in People's Republic of China Sold as a set of 2 ✦ SHIPS: Each box individually wrapped in bubble wrap, double-boxed for safety. Questions? Message me — I'm happy to help!
