This is a black Kendo protective gear set. This gear was passed down to me by a 7th dan instructor when I passed the 3rd dan exam, and it is said to be a masterpiece. The tare is made by Shobu, and there is embroidery of a name on the inside (the embroidered part is hidden in the photo). *The strings of the tare are in the condition shown. We recommend replacing them soon. *Due to the size, it will likely be shipped in a large plastic bag. Below is an explanation of the Bishamon Kikko Do, generated by AI. • Origin: It is inspired by the pattern used in the armor of Bishamonten, one of the Seven Lucky Gods. • Meaning: Bishamonten is known as the god of war and victory, so in martial arts, it has long been imbued with the auspicious meanings of **praying for certain victory and long-lasting good fortune in battle.** • Craftsman's Handiwork: The Bishamon pattern requires high stitch density and skilled techniques to shape beautifully. While it can be reproduced with machine stitching, complex and three-dimensional patterns like the one in this image require a more extensive production process. • Decorative Value: It is highly valued as an auspicious item and is visually appealing, making it a common choice for the chest protector of high-grade hand-stitched gear, often given as a gift for promotion to a higher dan or for instructors. • Material (Thread): Gear using gold thread (kincha) like the one in this photo is more vibrant than the usual solid navy blue and is generally treated as a custom-made or high-grade set.
