Charming vintage Japanese ceramic salt and pepper shaker set featuring an old-fashioned organ grinder and his performing monkey. The wonderfully whimsical pair depicts a mustached street performer dressed in a bright red jacket, yellow trousers and black hat alongside his monkey perched atop a tiny wheeled street organ. The two figures even interact when displayed together, creating a complete little street-performance scene. A fantastic example of colorful mid-century Japanese novelty ceramics and an especially fun addition to a collection of figural salt and pepper shakers, vintage kitchenware or kitschy mid-century décor. Details: • Vintage ceramic salt & pepper shaker set • Organ grinder with performing monkey and wheeled organ • Made in Japan — original JAPAN label remains on cart • Approx. 1950s / mid-century era • Organ grinder approx. 4.5 tall • Cart/monkey approx. 4 long • Original cork stoppers present • Sold as the complete pair Good vintage condition with age-related wear. There is a tiny flea-bite chip/finish loss on the back edge of the organ grinder’s black hat, along with scattered paint loss, most noticeably on the front of his red jacket. Additional minor surface and paint wear is present consistent with age. No major chips, cracks or repairs noted. Both original cork stoppers are present. Please review all photos for condition details.
