This was displayed at my parents' home for a period. The enclosed biography ends in 1986, so it is believed to be a work from that era. I cannot provide further details. The cloth it was wrapped in also has significant age-related stains. Stains are visible in some areas. There are also age-related stains around the edge of the shikishi (see images 9 and 10). Issei Yamauchi (山内一生) was a paper craft artist known for his Obara Washi (Japanese paper) art, and was recognized as a Living National Treasure. [Personal Information] Real name: Kazuo Hometown: Obara Village, Aichi Prefecture (now Toyota City) Received the Chunichi Culture Award Received the Prime Minister's Award at the Nitten exhibition Died at the age of 95 due to chronic kidney failure (2024) [About the Work] The Obara Washi Mugi (Wheat) is considered a masterpiece befitting a Living National Treasure. It is said to be unusual for His Majesty the Emperor to purchase a work during an inspection. He elevated Obara Washi art, which has been passed down in the mountainous region of Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, to the realm of fine art. [Frame Size] Approximately 43 x 45 x 3 cm ♦ Those considering purchasing, please be sure to read the full description and profile before making a decision. #IsseiYamauchi #Mizubasho #ShikishiLarge #NationalTreasure #WashiCraft #ObaraWashi Click here for the manufacturer's site
