Fownes black leather gloves with a smooth, supple finish and soft 100% cashmere lined interior. These classic full-finger gloves have a streamlined silhouette with a longer wrist length, making them a versatile cold-weather accessory. The company Fownes Brothers & Co. was originally founded in 1777 in England. The registration code WPL 9522 explicitly confirms that these gloves are a vintage line manufactured by Fownes Brothers & Co. The Era: WPL numbers were issued by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) between 1941 and 1959. While the FTC stopped issuing new WPL numbers in 1959 (switching to RN numbers), companies were legally allowed to keep using their existing WPL numbers for decades after. Estimated Age: Based on the combination of WPL 9522 and the Made in China stamp, these Fownes gloves are vintage from the late 1980s or 1990s.
