Rare Jennings Brothers (JB) French Bronze Elephant Casket – 2lb 12oz Offered here is a substantial, authentic early 20th-century figural casket from the prestigious Jennings Brothers (JB) foundry of Bridgeport, CT. This is a premier example of their Art Metal line, featuring the rare and highly sought-after French Bronze finish. Design & Weight: This isn't your average vintage brass export. Weighing in at an impressive 2 lbs 12.4 oz (nearly 3 lbs), the density of this casting is incredible. It features a masterfully detailed elephant in ceremonial attire, exhibiting the deep, rich patination and museum-quality finish that made Jennings Brothers a household name in American metalware. Condition & Functionality: The Finish: Excellent antique condition. The original French Bronze patina is well-preserved with a beautiful aged glow and no harsh cleaning. The Lid: Please note that while the original hinge has detached from the base, the lid is exceptionally heavy and seats perfectly flush and secure. It now functions beautifully as a high-end lift-off lid box, making it even easier to use for storing jewelry, coins, or desk supplies. Markings: Clearly stamped with the JB maker's mark and MADE IN USA on the underside. Whether you are a devotee of JB Art Metal or a collector of fine elephant figures, the sheer heft and historical significance of this piece make it a standout display item. It carries a presence that modern reproductions simply cannot match.
