Product details The combination of Kaidomaru (Kintaro) and a giant carp, depicted in many ukiyo-e prints during the Edo period, are both motifs for Children's Day decorations. This piece, which brings these images together, is an auspicious item that invites good fortune.
This item is a valuable and rare work, featuring mother-of-pearl for the carp's eyes and other details.

This is a glass painting, where the picture is drawn on a transparent glass plate and viewed from the opposite side through the glass.

Experience the vibrant world of colors of the paint itself, seen through the glass surface.

This requires meticulous calculation and skill, reversing the order of applying paint compared to traditional paintings.

Historically, it began with religious paintings in medieval Europe, passed through China, and arrived in Japan in the mid-Edo period.
For approximately 200 years since then. The brilliance and colors of novel materials astonished people, and during the late Edo and Meiji periods, glass paintings depicting foreign landscapes and ukiyo-e styles were actively created.
