A handmade cross, napkin, or handkerchief in antique burgundy/bordeaux/cranberry, featuring a water bird motif with charming appliqué and beautiful lace embroidery. The design is highlighted by an embroidered duck floating on water, appliquéd with ivory cotton fabric. The tulle/mesh lace depicts ducks, birds resembling swans, and water plants/leaves and flowers floating on the water, creating a lyrical and elegant style. It appears to be handmade Alençon lace or Valenciennes lace, with delicate and lovely picot loops along the edges. The edges feature gathered, ornate trim. The ivory color has a slightly deep antique feel, creating a beautiful color combination with the bordeaux. The fabric is sheer, very smooth, and soft, with a light, airy feel as if it could flutter in the wind. The fabric is cotton, and the lace is likely linen and cotton, made from fine, crisp threads with a delicate and supple texture.
