A single antique soup bowl, dating back approximately 100 years from the Taisho to early Showa periods. Features a rare mother-of-pearl inlay pattern of seashells on a plum tree motif. This is a high-quality item, comparable to those used in upscale Japanese restaurants. Currently, similar wooden, genuine lacquerware with gold accents are priced around 30,000 yen at department stores like Mitsukoshi. The value of this piece is enhanced by the abundant gold leaf detailing on the flowers. The gold leaf depicts birds, flowers, and plum blossoms with delicate and three-dimensional artistry, combining both aesthetic appeal and a sense of luxury. This soup bowl is meticulously crafted from natural wood by artisans and finished with multiple layers of natural Japanese lacquer. Natural Japanese lacquerware is a rarity today, as over 90% of the lacquer used in Japan is imported from China. The result is a beautiful, deep black finish achieved by repeatedly applying lacquer over a natural wood base. Enjoy your clear soups, zoni, or miso soup with elegant flair. This piece will add a touch of historical grandeur to your dining experience and create an artistic, luxurious atmosphere. ◯ Size (cm) Height: 8.5 (including lid), 5.5 (bowl only) Diameter: 12.5 #Kevin'sRoom (See my other listings) Yamada Heian-do, Wild Birds, Sparrows, Birds, New Year, Zoni Antique, Vintage, Brocante, Orne de Feuilles, Retro Maneki Neko, vintage antique, vintage brocante, Orne de Feuilles, retro Maneki Neko, vintage antique, lucky cat, Maneki Neko, Japan, Kutani, Imari, Kutaniyaki figurines, Feng Shui, Fine Arts, Antique Art, Antique, Buddhist altar fittings, National Treasure, Rosanjin Kitaōji, Stage Props, Antique Art, Buddhism, Buddha statue, Buddha, Oriental Art, Amida Nyorai, Tea Ceremony Utensils, Antique Tools, Art Gallery, Modern Art, Contemporary Art, African Art, Primitive Art, Art, Museum, art, Mid-Century, Japan Folk Crafts Museum, Handmade, Folk Crafts, Asian雑貨, Nordic雑貨, American Toys, American雑貨, Showa Retro, Lucie Rie, Bernard Leach, Kanjiro Kawai, Bauhaus, Sung-rok, Sōetsu Yanagi, Sori Yanagi, Takashi Murakami, Arita Ware, Kutani Ware, Ko-Imari, Imari, Yachimun, Koishiwara Ware, Koishida Ware, Mashiko Ware, Hagi Ware, Koransha, Old Shigaraki, Shigaraki Ware, Seto Ware, Bizen Ware, Mino Ware, Kiyomizu Ware, Kyoto Ware, Fukagawa Porcelain, Seto Novelty, arts&science, Holmsstock, Kensington Cat, Noritake, Royal Doulton, J&G Meakin, mid winter, Burleigh Click here for the manufacturer's site
