This powerful vintage bronze sculpture by renowned artist Marcel Jovine captures the spirit of athletic excellence and unity. Two runners surge forward in perfect stride, the leading figure raising a torch high as the second runner drives forward beside him. Their bodies are sculpted with Jovine’s signature realism—musculature, motion, and determination rendered with expressive detail. The torch’s stylized flame rises dramatically, symbolizing perseverance, teamwork, and the timeless Olympic ideal. The textured bronze base grounds the composition, adding depth and contrast while showcasing the artist’s hand. The underside is lined with protective felt, preserving furniture surfaces and adding a refined finishing touch. About the Artist — Marcel Jovine (1921–2003) Marcel Jovine was an Italian‑American sculptor celebrated for his dynamic bronze figures, military miniatures, and coin designs for the U.S. Mint. His work is prized for anatomical accuracy, emotional movement, and craftsmanship. Athletic bronzes from the early 1980s—especially signed pieces—are highly collectible and increasingly scarce. The sculpture is signed © ’83 Marcel Jovine, confirming authenticity and date.
