Sumio Kurosawa 2001 No. 150 Sumio Kurosawa is a leading figure who popularized traditional Spanish guitar-making techniques in Japan. His instruments are characterized by a thick, resonant bass and a brilliant, far-reaching treble. • Grade and Features: The model number No. 150 indicates a model with a list price of 150,000 yen at the time, according to the custom of the era. In 2001, it was positioned as a mid-to-high-range model (semi-concert model). Typically, the soundboard was made of high-quality spruce or cedar, and the back and sides were made of rosewood. • Label Inscription: The Spanish inscription constructor de guitarras (guitar maker) on the label and the design, which follows the Madrid school, reflect his dedication. This is a valuable instrument from the period when it was carefully handcrafted one by one at his workshop in Maenocho, Itabashi-ku, Tokyo. *One string is broken.
