This is a custom-made decorative obi, based on Nishijin-ori, suitable for formal wear such as tomesode and houmongi. After being used for a coming-of-age ceremony, it was customized and used as stage costume for performances in Japanese attire and 2.5D stage productions. The obi is tailored from traditional Nishijin-ori, a high-quality textile that requires extensive time and effort to create. This is because intricate patterns are formed by weaving dyed threads, involving numerous complex steps. The carefully woven fabric is pre-dyed before weaving, making it more durable and resistant to wrinkles than typical post-dyed fabrics. The obi generously incorporates gold threads, creating a captivating and beautiful shimmer. Depending on the angle of light, the fabric's characteristic soft luster and the reflection of the gold threads create a luxurious and beautiful obi. We have included a photo of the obi wrapped around a juban for reference. Its exquisite design will undoubtedly add a touch of splendor to your special celebratory occasions. This item is being sold as part of a closet clear-out due to reduced frequency of wearing Japanese attire on stage. The original price for the complete kimono set was 350,000 yen, with the obi alone valued at 42,000 yen. The obi accessory is attached with buttons, allowing it to be detached from the obi for a more casual styling. The ruched, conscious finish can also be removed as it is temporarily attached. Crafted from silk threads, this obi offers a supple texture, allowing for elegant coordination even on stage. Click here for the manufacturer's site
