[Details (Excerpt from Google)] Purpose: Used to determine the direction (bearing) of radio waves emitted from enemy or friendly radio transmitters. This enabled tactical intelligence gathering, such as triangulation to pinpoint enemy unit locations. Configuration: This cabinet (CY-946/PRD-1) typically houses the R-395/PRD-1 radio receiver. Operation: By rotating the large circular scale on the front (part of the goniometer) and finding the point where the signal is weakest (null point), the exact direction from which the radio waves are coming can be determined. Historical Context: During the Vietnam War, it was utilized to locate enemy transmitters in rugged terrain, though its use sometimes required operation in dangerous locations to pinpoint their positions. This item has not been tested for operation. As I am not knowledgeable about radio equipment, please consider this item as-is (junk).
