A charming vintage wall-mounted jewelry and key cabinet covered in light peach-pink velvet, finished with antique-gold metallic trim and centered with an oval porcelain plaque depicting a romantic pastoral courting scene. Inside, the wooden cabinet has eight individual brass-tone hooks arranged in two rows, making it useful as a necklace organizer, jewelry cabinet or decorative key holder. Two original-style triangular hangers on the back allow it to be mounted vertically on the wall. The combination of faded peach velvet, metallic trim, porcelain artwork and aged brass-tone hardware gives this piece a wonderful old-world character. It would be especially at home in a grandmillennial bedroom, romantic dressing area, French-inspired interior, cottage or collected vintage home. The porcelain plaque is unmarked. Its romantic pastoral imagery is in the tradition of Rococo and Fragonard-style decorative scenes popular on European-inspired porcelain throughout the early and mid-20th century. Based on the overall materials and construction, we believe the cabinet is early to mid-20th century, although an exact maker and date are unknown.
