Many speakers are designed with the full-range driver mounted upwards, topped with a conical diffuser, creating a soundstage type speaker. In contrast, the creator of this contrarian speaker mounted the unit in reverse, with the magnet exposed, creating a soundstage type speaker they called The Child Who Showed Its Butt, First Prize, which they made previously. The effect was that the sound image seemed to float up. Honestly, though, the real intention was to show off the beautiful butt rather than aim for a soundstage. This time, they created what could be called a semi-soundstage type speaker with the unit tilted at a 60° angle. The L-shaped grille cloth, which was difficult to make, is a visual highlight (though it's a shame that without it, the treble sounds clearer). Here are the listening results: When asked about the soundstage effect, they were like, Huh? (lol) There's a slight feeling that the sound image rises a bit, but it's a world of What the heck is a soundstage speaker? It seems to have ended up as a speaker that can be used as a normal speaker. The woofer's tilt doesn't have much of an impact, and the tweeter, which is cut off at a lower frequency, covers it sufficiently. So, if you set the tweeter facing forward, it can be used as a normal bookshelf speaker. However, the original goal was to use it as a small floor-standing speaker placed on the floor. The idea is not to listen directly to the speaker, but to enjoy music casually while going about your daily life. They tried listening to it as a floor-standing speaker. Despite its small size, it produces a relaxed sound and is quite good. However, on a hardwood floor, the bass becomes quite boomy. It would be advisable to use some appropriate insulators or place a piece of wood underneath. The tweeter should be angled towards the listening position. Dimensions: Height 292 mm, Width 225 mm, Depth 205 mm. Both the woofer and tweeter are Pioneer units. The woofer's surround has been replaced. The tweeter has had its excess frame removed for mounting. The cabinet is a modified manufacturer's unit, significantly altered. The tweeter's angle can be adjusted with a hex wrench. In conclusion, while use as a small floor-standing type is recommended, it can also be used as a normal bookshelf speaker without any issues. It's a speaker that, if you look at it generously, is versatile, but if you're critical, it's like the creator's life – neither here nor there, just drifting along.
