This sampler, a dream collaboration between East Coast synthesis master Dave Smith and Pioneer DJ, was purchased new in 2020. Equipped with Pro DJ Link, its potential applications are endless, from live DJ performances to beatmaking. This legendary machine, with its successor models halted and production discontinued after Dave Smith's passing a few years ago, is highly sought after. Due to its low circulation and dedicated fanbase, excellent used units are becoming extremely rare. Given its rarity, the used price has begun to command a premium since production ended. While the original retail price was in the high 190,000 yen range, used SP-16 units are now frequently seen on various used sales sites for well over 300,000 yen, significantly exceeding the original price. I am not adding a premium, so I would like to pass this unit on to someone who is looking for it and will use it with care. ◉ Original Collaboration Equipment There were two major geographical trends in the history of American analog synthesizers: The style developed by Robert Moog in New York State, East Coast Synthesis, and the style developed by Don Buchla in California, also referred to as East Coast Synthesis. Dave Smith is globally recognized as a key figure who standardized and popularized the East Coast Synthesis style. This unit features Dave Smith's analog filters, an intuitive touch panel, a 16-step sequencer, and sampling/processing functions, making it an innovative sampler that supports a wide range of applications from club tracks to live performances. ◉ Product Features • Comfortable operation with a 7-inch touch panel • Equipped with Dave Smith Instruments Prophet-6 filter • 16-track step sequencer • Up to 32 seconds per sample, 8GB internal memory • Sample import via USB ◉ Condition The pads are in good condition as they have not been used for finger drumming. There are minor scratches from use as it was set up in a DJ booth, but I believe it is in beautiful condition.
