Purchased in 2023 ・Weight: 1,130g ・Size: M Palm is an American manufacturer specializing in kayak equipment, founded in 1984. They manufacture and sell life jackets, kayak wear, drysuits, and more. In Japan, their products are mainly distributed as parallel imports. ・Condition +++++ Used approximately 10 times, for about 20 hours, for winter kayak practice (Eskimo roll). The product is made with nylon material on the outside and neoprene material (foamed synthetic rubber) on the inside. For storage, it is washed with water, dried, kept out of direct sunlight, and stored in a box. There are some oil stains from heavy oil washed ashore on the coast (see photos). ・Product Features +++++ This drysuit, named Base Suit, features waterproof performance using a 3-layer material fabric. The diagonal zipper on the front of the suit is made by YKK and incorporates proprietary waterproof technology. The end of the zipper rail has a unique shape, and by fully closing the zipper to the end, waterproof performance is achieved. Latex material (ultra-thin rubber material) is used for the neck, wrists, and sock areas of the feet, as these are points where water can enter the suit. They are designed to fit snugly without excessive pressure. The socks for the feet are connected to the trousers, preventing water entry. If the circumference of the neck or wrists does not fit, the suit can be adjusted by cutting it with scissors to match your size. ・About the Characteristics of Drysuits +++++ The main characteristic of a drysuit is that it can be worn over other clothing. However, it is not suitable for use underwater. It has a one-piece structure, similar to overalls, connecting the feet to the neck. It traps air inside, which helps maintain insulation. On the other hand, if you fall into the water, the air inside the suit will create buoyancy throughout your body, making it difficult to move and maintain balance. Therefore, when wearing it, it is important to release as much air as possible from inside the suit. Always close the front zipper completely to the end to prevent water from entering the suit. If water accumulates inside the suit while submerged, the weight of the water may make it difficult to get out of the water.
