This is a listing for a three-piece, medium-neck shamisen. The medium-neck shamisen has a tonal range that blends well with other instruments and vocals, making it suitable for a wide variety of genres including Jiuta, Koto music (Ikuta-ryu), folk songs, Houta, and pop music. The three-piece construction is designed for easy folding, portability, and storage, which is particularly convenient for beginners or those who prioritize portability. There are three types of neck thicknesses: thin, medium, and thick. The medium neck is slightly thicker than the thin neck and thinner than the thick neck. The medium-neck shamisen is ideal for accompanying folk songs and Jiuta, and is also used for ensemble performances with the koto, characterized by its balanced tonal range. Neck wood: Based on the wood grain and color, it is likely to be Kokutan (rosewood) or Shitan (red sandalwood). As I am an amateur, I apologize that I cannot definitively confirm this. Neck thickness: 27.0 cm (measured below the nyubuku - the decorative piece where the neck joins the body). Condition: The reason for the 訳あり (reason for defect) is that the neck tilts when strings are attached. It is likely that the shape of the joint between the body and the neck is not a proper fit, and some kind of repair, such as shims or carving, is necessary. Additionally, one of the upper bridges and a string are missing.
