Ihail (Memorial Tablet) - Kyogata Ro-mon Style, 6寸 (approx. 27.8cm total height, 10.2cm width, 18.2cm tablet height) An ihail is a Buddhist implement used to enshrine and honor the spirit of an individual. It is considered an important item for ancestral veneration. The front of the ihail is inscribed with the posthumous Buddhist name (kaimyo). Even without a kaimyo, an ihail can be created using the deceased's secular name (zokumyo) as a suitable substitute. If you wish to have the kaimyo or other inscriptions handwritten, we will do so with care and free of charge, rather than using a machine. After your purchase, please provide us with the desired kaimyo and its accompanying title (e.g., Koji for men, Daishi for women), the date of passing, the secular name (full name), and the age at the time of passing. We will then handwrite these details for you free of charge. The text color will be gold. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the ihail alone. We will also handwrite the date of passing, secular name (full name), and age at the time of passing free of charge. In the Kanto region, the kaimyo and date of passing are typically inscribed on the front of the ihail, with the secular name and age at passing on the back. In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the kaimyo is inscribed on the front, with the secular name and age at passing on the back. There are regional variations. If you already have an ancestral ihail, we can create the new one to match its layout. Great Dictionary of Kaimyo, Kokushokankokai Golden ihail symbolize solemnity in Buddhism and are popular as high-quality items to honor the spirits of the deceased. In particular, ihail known as so-kin or so-fun, which are decorated entirely in gold, give a more solemn impression and express respect for the deceased. Characteristics of Golden Ihail: Symbolize Solemnity in Buddhism: Gold is an important color in Buddhist art, used to express solemnity. Sense of Luxury and Dignity: Gold decoration enhances the luxurious feel and dignity of the ihail. Various Types: There are various types of golden ihail, including those with gold powder applied, those with gold leaf applied, or those that are entirely gold. Durability: Ihail made with gold powder are more durable than those with gold leaf and maintain their beautiful appearance for a long time.
