Lacquer Buddhist Tablet, Karaki Tablet, Black Sandalwood, Rounded Corner, 6.0 inch Height: 28.7 cm, Width: 13.2 cm A Buddhist tablet is a Buddhist implement used to enshrine and honor the spirits of individuals. It is considered an important item for ancestral veneration. The Buddhist name (kaimyo) is inscribed on the front of the tablet. Even without a Buddhist name, you can create a tablet with a secular name (zokumyo) that is suitable as a Buddhist name by adding 之霊位 (no reii) after the secular name. Adding 之霊位 (no reii) after a secular name is considered to have the same meaning as receiving a Buddhist name. If you wish to have the Buddhist name and other inscriptions handwritten, we will do so free of charge. Please refer to the last image for examples. After winning the auction, please provide the Buddhist name and Buddhist title (e.g., Koji for men, Daishi for women), the date of death, the secular name (full name), and the age at death, and we will handwrite them for free. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the tablet alone. We will also handwrite the date of death, secular name (full name), and age at death for free. In the Kanto region, the Buddhist name and date of death are inscribed on the front of the tablet, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back. In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the Buddhist name is inscribed on the front, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back. There are regional differences. If you already have ancestral tablets, we will create the new one to match their layout.
