Nikko Sand (Super Hard Kanuma Soil) Small Granule 2 Liters #Yamasan's Soil Nikko Sand refers to the hardest type of pumice from the Kanuma soil produced around Kanuma City, specifically sourced from the Nikko City area of Tochigi Prefecture. It is said to be harder than even high-grade hard Kanuma soil, truly representing the finest quality of Kanuma soil. While Kanuma soil is readily available at home centers nationwide, Nikko Sand is rarely found in home centers even within Tochigi Prefecture. It is expensive (approximately twice the price of hard Kanuma soil, and more than three times the price of general Kanuma soil) and difficult to obtain. This soil is sterile, boasts excellent drainage and aeration, retains moisture, and is extremely hard, making it resistant to crumbling. It is primarily used in soil mixes for high-quality bonsai, orchids, and wild plants. Due to its high drainage and aeration properties and extreme hardness, it is also suitable for soil mixes for succulents such as Haworthia, Agave, and cacti. When growing succulents, the most common mistakes leading to root rot are overwatering or using soil with poor drainage and aeration.
