This is the liquid remaining after boiling down the comb waste from Japanese honeybees after honey extraction to obtain beeswax. For use as an attractant during swarming season. Available in a convenient 2-bottle pack of 250ml each. We aim to ship within 2 business days of your order, but please understand that delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. We will notify you of the estimated shipping date and immediately after shipping. Although it is labeled as an attractant, its purpose is to impart a scent to the hive. Honeybees have a strong tendency to prefer hives they have nested in before. Therefore, for new bait hives, this product can be used to create a scent that mimics a used hive. Honeybees have a keen sense of smell, so diluting it with water is also acceptable. I personally use it diluted about 2 to 4 times. 〈Example Usage Methods〉 ?Spray onto the bait hive. ?Apply with a brush. ?Apply with a rag or cloth. ?Boil the bait hive or frames in a large pot or can filled with water mixed with the attractant liquid, or ?Pour the liquid with a ladle, or apply it with a wooden stick wrapped in cloth. I used to do it in a large can at first, but recently I've been taking shortcuts and prefer using a spray. I find it to be sufficiently effective. In any case, it is often said that mold can grow if not dried thoroughly after treatment. I have never experienced mold growth with this process. The season for preparing bait hives is also a dry season, and I believe that if left outside after treatment, it will dry quickly without conscious effort. This is a natural product. It is also collected by hand, so there may be residual wax or impurities mixed in, but please do not be concerned. If using a spray, it would be less likely to clog if filtered through a cloth or similar material. Ships at room temperature. If you do not plan to use it all this season, freezing is recommended for storage. At room temperature, it can ferment, and if the cap is tightly closed, the container can become pressurized. I have used it even after fermentation and found it effective, but since mold can sometimes form on the surface of the liquid in the container, freezing is indeed better if you won't be using it immediately. However, please understand that even with this attractant, beeswax, and a lure, the success rate of capturing a swarming colony is not 100%. Even with thorough preparation, the capture rate is said to be 10-20% for beginners and up to 30% for experienced beekeepers. Nevertheless, as experienced beekeepers know, the joy of a successful capture is unparalleled. It is a truly special and moving experience.
