This product is perfect as a starter kit for beginners in Japanese honeybee beekeeping. It can also be used as a waiting box. Please note that this is a handmade product using natural materials, and may have uneven knots and wood grain, gaps due to expansion and contraction, or slight variations due to manual assembly. Please purchase with this understanding. Product Contents: 1 Top board, 1 Medicine/Feeder box, 2 Nesting boxes, 1 Entrance box, 2 Bottom boards (summer and winter), 1 Base (All parts except the bottom boards are made of cedar wood) Product Dimensions: Top board: 29cm (length) x 29cm (width), approx. 3cm thick Medicine/Feeder box: Outer dimensions 29cm x 29cm, Inner dimensions approx. 23cm x 23cm, Height approx. 8cm Nesting box: Outer dimensions 29cm x 29cm, Inner dimensions approx. 23cm x 23cm (Height 12-13cm, 2 boxes) Entrance box: Outer dimensions 29cm x 29cm, Inner dimensions approx. 23cm x 23cm, Height approx. 11.5cm Bottom board: Outer dimensions 24.7cm x 30cm, approx. 1.2cm thick (Summer version has a tricot net fitted to the inner diameter of the entrance box) Base: 33cm x 35cm square, approx. 25cm high Total assembled height: approx. 74cm Product Features: The first feature is the two types of bottom boards. Two types are included, for summer and winter. The summer version prevents the accumulation of hive debris, similar to the Aoyagi hive, and also helps suppress wax moths and provides excellent ventilation. The sliding bottom board allows for cleaning and inspection without causing significant disturbance to the bees, enabling frequent monitoring of bee health and growth. The second feature is the entrance box. It has five vertical entrances, each approximately 7mm wide and 5cm high. Since honeybees enter from the entrance and climb the walls, the vertical entrances are stress-free for the bees, and the X-shaped placement of the bamboo honey drop prevention bars does not obstruct them. The third feature is the medicine/feeder box. This box also serves as a slatted floor, with boards approximately 7mm thick and 3cm wide fixed at intervals of about 8mm. This allows for the smooth flow of menthol or other treatments and does not hinder the bees' entry and exit during feeding. The honey drop prevention bars and slatted floor are fixed by cutting grooves into the hive body, so wires or knives will not hit them during honey harvesting. The exterior and joining surfaces of the hive body have been torched, but the interior surfaces have not been torched. If bees inhabit the hive, additional boxes will be necessary. We also sell additional boxes separately, so please consider those as well. We believe that with five nesting boxes, it is possible to keep bees throughout the year.
