AKIKO OGAWA
After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School and working as a corporate designer, she became independent in 2001 and established the a primary AKIKO OGAWA brand. In March of the same year, she presented her 2001 autumn/winter collection at the WORK SHOP exhibition in Paris, and made her debut at Tokyo Collection in October. She participated in New York Collection in February 2005. From the autumn/winter of the same year, she changed the collection line to AKIKO OGAWA., and held exhibitions in New York and Paris from the spring/summer of 2006, expanding her global activities. In September 2009, she established AKIKO OGAWA International Inc. and launched collections centered on business scenes such as order-made suits. The suit line is mainly sold in domestic department stores. In 2016, she also started a lingerie line, and exhibited at the Paris lingerie exhibition in 2017. Since her debut, she has focused on the beauty that is born when seemingly contradictory elements, such as strength within beauty, are combined. With a concept of designing to make women beautiful with a combination of soft curves and a strong, dignified presence, and intellectual and elegant sexiness. Her signature masculine tailored designs are meticulously crafted with a focus on structural forms and cutting, and the style that fuses femininity has gained support from working women.
