The Saipan Lemon is said to be a variety introduced to Saipan in the past and then propagated domestically. It is a Eureka variety with a four-season fruiting habit, good flowering, and high fruit yield. It can be harvested from around September, with a high sugar content and a mellow flavor. It is also known as Green Lemon because it is used while the peel is still green. It is less cold-hardy than the Lisbon variety, so be careful not to expose it to cold winds in winter. Lemons are somewhat sensitive to cold, but can be grown outdoors in warm regions and generally in areas along the Pacific coast. The flowers have a lovely fragrance, making it a wonderful ornamental tree for your garden. It can overwinter outdoors in locations that do not drop below -3°C. Harvest the fruit while it is still green, and store it in a dark place to develop a beautiful lemon color. It is self-pollinating, so one tree will bear fruit. It can be grown in pots as well as planted in the ground. Type: Semi-cold hardy evergreen tree Planting period: Mid-October to late May Harvest period: October to mid-November Sunlight: Full sun Cultivation method: Plant in a sunny location with plenty of leaf mold incorporated into the soil. Apply organic fertilizer to the base of the tree in March and again in December-January. Prune at the beginning of March, just as the buds begin to swell. It can overwinter outdoors in gardens along the Pacific coast south of the Kanto region. In winter, protect the base of the tree with mulch or straw for insulation. In colder regions, grow it in a pot and place it indoors by a sunny window during winter. Please note that when planted in the ground, the tree's vigor increases, and nutrients may be directed towards growth for several years, potentially delaying fruiting. The seedling in the photo will be sent with the soil lightly removed, using the 4th class postal service. If you wish to receive it in a pot, we can change the shipping method to Mercari delivery for an additional ¥500. Click here for the manufacturer's site Easy to find furniture and interiors!
