This is MBBR moving bed biofilter media. This is unused surplus from a previous purchase. The exact number of pieces is unknown, but the total weight is 330 grams. Assuming approximately 150 grams per liter, this should be a little over 2 liters. The following is a quote: [The New Standard in Water Purification: Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor Media] This filter media utilizes the innovative water treatment technology known as Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR). By allowing the media to float and move constantly in the water, a biofilm of bacteria naturally forms on its surface, efficiently breaking down harmful substances such as ammonia, nitrite, and organic matter in the aquarium water. [The Media Moves and Works! Highly Efficient Filtration Mechanism] By suspending the media in the water using a pump or aeration, the entire surface area where bacteria reside is constantly in contact with the water. Compared to conventional fixed filter media, bacterial activity is significantly enhanced, leading to a dramatic increase in filtration capacity. The system ensures continuous water circulation and self-cleaning of the media. [Reduced Maintenance & High Durability] Because the media moves on its own, dead spaces in the filter tank are minimized, suppressing the formation of anaerobic environments that can cause water spoilage and odors. Furthermore, the material used is highly durable high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It is resistant to deformation even with long-term use and strong against collisions with other media, reducing the frequency of replacement and saving costs. [Ideal for Tank Cycling and Bacterial Cultivation] Filter media with well-established bacteria can also be used for cycling new aquariums. Introducing it into a newly set-up tank accelerates bacterial colonization and supports initial water quality stabilization. [Versatile Applications] Suitable for both freshwater and saltwater environments. It can be used for a wide range of applications including ornamental fish tanks, goldfish and medaka ponds, filter tanks, and DIY sump systems. It can be used as additional filter media or as a supplementary material in environments with unstable water quality. [Specifications] Material: High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Flow Method: Compatible with aeration/water flow pumps Applications: Freshwater, saltwater, ornamental fish, goldfish, medaka, large aquariums, ponds, etc. Click here for the manufacturer's site Easy to find furniture and interiors!
