Received on May 18, Reiwa 8 (2026), a highly auspicious date when Ichiryu Manbai Bi (a day for good fortune), Tatsu no Hi (Dragon Day), and Dai Myonichi (a day of great brightness) all coincided. [About the Temple] Engakuji Temple, a historic and renowned temple representing Kamakura. It was built over 740 years ago by Hojo Tokimune, a leader of the Kamakura Shogunate. The temple's symbol, the Butsuden (Buddha Hall), enshrines the very rare seated statue of the principal image, Hokan Shaka Nyorai (Buddha Shakyamuni with a Crown), wearing a divine crown. Looking up at the ceiling directly above, you'll find the Hakuryuzu (White Dragon Painting), a powerful and lifelike depiction supervised by the master nihonga painter Seison Maeda, which is cherished as the temple's guardian deity. The vast temple grounds, surrounded by deep greenery, are adorned with fresh hydrangeas in early summer and have long been loved by many visitors. [About the Goshuin] This is a Special Limited Kirie Goshuin (cut paper stamp) that captures the early summer scenery of Engakuji Temple, presented in a luxurious and colorful two-page spread, showcasing traditional beauty. ?Received on the most auspicious day Received on May 18, Reiwa 8 (2026), a highly auspicious date when Ichiryu Manbai Bi, Tatsu no Hi, and Dai Myonichi all coincided. The center features a powerful ink inscription of Hokan Shaka Nyorai, the principal image of Engakuji Temple, which bestows great wisdom and peace of mind upon the holder. ?Breathtaking three-dimensional kirie art The world depicted across the two-page spread transcends the boundaries of a typical goshuin, entering the realm of three-dimensional art (papercraft). The upper part depicts the magnificent temple gate, a symbol of Engakuji Temple, with a meticulously crafted kirie of the traditional Asanoha Mon'yo (hemp leaf pattern), which signifies warding off evil, in the background. Furthermore, the gradation of hydrangeas, synonymous with Kamakura, is beautifully and three-dimensionally expressed through the layering of numerous fine kirie pieces. ?Decorative Japanese umbrella motif In the foreground, colorful Japanese umbrellas in red, blue, green, and pink are beautifully arranged as if to adorn the temple grounds after the rain. This is an exceptionally luxurious special limited goshuin that perfectly blends the early summer scenery of Engakuji Temple with traditional beauty. This piece is also perfect for SNS photos as it shows various expressions depending on the light. Please enjoy this special offering, perfect for the upcoming season when hydrangeas are in full bloom, as an auspicious addition to your collection. Click here for the manufacturer's site
