Burnable Wooden Rokumonzen (Six-Mon Coin) *Please prepare this item in advance as date and time specifications may be difficult. Kami-sen (paper money for the afterlife) are burnable paper bills that are placed in the coffin as grave goods (meisen) so that the deceased will not have trouble in the afterlife. This practice is a type of ancestral spirit worship where paper money is burned at the grave or at the eaves as an offering to ancestral spirits. Generally, meisen refers to paper money placed in the coffin when the deceased is being dressed for burial. A famous type of coin-shaped meisen is the Rokumonzen printed on paper, which is placed together in a zudabukuro (monk's bag). However, Rokumonzen printed on paper feels rather inadequate... but real banknotes or coins cannot be used. Some families wish to give the deceased real money to prevent them from having trouble at the Sanzu River, but this is actually difficult. Burning current currency is illegal and therefore cannot be placed in the coffin for cremation. This is a paper money version of Rokumonzen. Kami-sen / Meisen. Kami-sen are placed in the coffin as grave goods when the deceased is being dressed for burial. Therefore, we have burnable meisen (paper money). While plain or simply designed ones are available, people naturally desire paper money with high-value and dignified portraits, national treasure-class buildings, or phoenixes. Of course, since it is made of paper, it can be burned. It does not violate any laws. Wooden Rokumonzen Size: Diameter approx. 26mm x approx. 7mm thick The diameter is about the same size as a 500-yen coin. * The square in the center is a line; there is no actual hole. * The printed surface is a double-sided sticker. It is not waterproof. * It is not printed directly on the wooden surface. * It is not printed or engraved directly on the wooden surface. * As it is made of natural wood, there are individual differences in wood grain. [Religious Note] The Rokumonzen is often considered more of a folk belief than a Buddhist ritual. [Actual Caution] When placing Rokumonzen in a coffin, please consult with relatives, the crematorium, and the funeral home. [Grave Goods: Meisen] In Buddhist funerals, there is something called Rokumonzen placed in the coffin as grave goods for the deceased. These grave goods are buried or cremated with the deceased for reasons such as so that they will not have trouble with money in the afterlife or as a fare for crossing the Sanzu River. Currently, real Rokumonzen or cash are not placed in coffins as grave goods. They are strictly restricted by law (currency damage) and due to the risk of equipment malfunction.
