Hand-painted Kashmiri papier mâché trinket box with a domed lid, dense gilt detailing, and stylized floral panels in orange, green, blue, and gold over a black background. This lightweight vintage box was handcrafted in Kashmir, India, a region long known for its richly decorated papier mâché wares made for both local use and export. Kashmiri boxes like this became especially popular in the mid-20th century, prized for their detailed gold work, floral motifs, and lacquered finishes. The intricate patterning and domed form give it a jewel-box look despite its small size. The interior is painted black and can hold jewelry, rings, crystals, coins, sewing notions, or other small keepsakes. The amount of hand-applied gilt and fine linework throughout makes it especially eye-catching displayed open or closed. Likely dates to the 1970s–1980s based on the style, finish, and construction. Photos and video are part of the description. Condition: Good vintage condition with light age-related wear. One side shows a small area of lacquer loss exposing white beneath the finish. Minor edge chipping and light scuffing inside the box from use. Gilt and painted decoration remain vibrant overall. Size: 4.75 inches long 3.5 inches wide 2.75 inches tall at highest point NPK(psh)-
