This vintage postcard features a sepia-toned photograph of La Préfecture in Valence-sur-Rhone, highlighting the elegant Cour d'Honneur entrance with its ornate ironwork railings and detailed architectural embellishments. The image captures the stately facade of the prefecture building, including the grand staircase, intricate window shutters, and a young boy standing at the bottom of the steps, offering a glimpse into mid-20th century French civic architecture and life. Printed by Editions d'Art Paul Jacquin of Valence, this postcard is a classic example of early to mid-1900s French art postcards, likely linen or gelatin silver print based on the finish and quality visible. The scalloped edges and the layout on the back with divided lines for message and address are indicative of postcards from this era, making it a collectible item for enthusiasts of French regional architecture, vintage postcards, and historical memorabilia from the Rhone region. The card's clear depiction of the prefecture and its courtyard offers a charming view of French heritage and public administration buildings.
