The Alpina Genesis Project collection is a legendary line of vintage eyewear that emerged in the early 1980s, primarily handmade in West Germany. Alpina initially focused on technical performance gear for skiing and cycling. The Genesis Project represented a bold expansion into high-fashion, sport-chic aesthetics. These frames are distinguished by superior craftsmanship. Often featuring handmade construction and high-end finishes, such as 24k gold appliqués or silver-plated metal details. Retro-Futuristic Design: The collection is known for its industrial, oversized silhouettes and breaking down design barriers with unique structural elements like signature bolts and distinctive bridge ornaments. Cultural ImpactThese sunglasses achieved cult status within the hip-hop scene, popularized by icons like Stevie Wonder, and later worn by contemporary artists such as Kanye West and Rick Ross. Because original 80s production was limited, pieces from this line are now highly sought-after by collectors for its “Brown gold flake, a characteristic of high-end finish from the era.
