Item: Vintage Gillette Super Adjustable 109 Double Edge Safety Razor Nickname: Black Beauty Date Code: P2 (Stamped on underside, indicates 2nd Quarter of 1970) Handle Length: 109mm (Long Handle Version) Adjustment Settings: 1 through 9 dial positions Country of Manufacture: USA Mechanism: Twist-to-Open (TTO) Butterfly Doors Up for sale is a classic, highly collectible 1970 Gillette Super Adjustable 109 safety razor. Known affectionately as the Black Beauty, this vintage double-edge razor features a sleek black anodized aluminum handle and a fully adjustable 1-9 dial that changes the blade gap to customize your shave aggression. This is the preferred vintage version with an all-metal base tray. CONDITION ASSESSMENT: Please review all photos carefully to see the exact cosmetic and mechanical condition: Mechanical Function: Tested without a blade. The twist-to-open (TTO) mechanism turns completely smoothly, and both butterfly doors open simultaneously with no sticking or lagging. The adjustment dial securely clicks into all 9 positions. Plating and Finish: The original nickel plating on the head and doors shows a nice shine with standard surface micro-scratches, light oxidation spots, and minor soap residue consistent with age. Handle: The black knurled handle is structurally sound and retains its textured grip. The silver end cap shows typical minor wear or brassing on the bottom rim.
