【Fully Adjusted】W. Schreiber Bassoon WS5010 or WS5011 (Current WS5016) This is a bassoon from W. Schreiber, a prestigious German bassoon manufacturer. Schreiber is a renowned bassoon brand, represented by names like Adler, Mollenhauer, and Mönnig. Schreiber bassoons, in particular, are known for their high precision, ease of playability with minimal quirks, and excellent sound production, making them popular among musicians worldwide, including in Japan. Their popular models are relatively affordable, with new list prices in the 1 million yen range, making them global bestsellers. As it has the current logo, it is likely not an extremely old instrument, but it does show signs of age and use. There is some plating wear and damage to the wood. Specifically, there is discoloration on the lower part of the double joint, but a repair technician has confirmed that it does not affect playability or airtightness and can be used as is. Two Schreiber original bocals, likely included at the time of purchase, are included: Bocal 1 and Bocal 2. A genuine case and hand rest are also included. Adjustment Details: Full Adjustment (All keys disassembled and reassembled) Tone hole and octave hole cleaning Cork adjustment and replacement Key wobble correction A, G, F pitch adjustment Hand rest fixation Boot spring and linkage rod repair Partial pad replacement with new ones Several tens of thousands of yen were spent on thorough adjustments and parts replacement for this listing. This German-made bestseller model is not only affordable for individual ownership but is also frequently seen as equipment for schools and orchestras, indicating its relative ease of use. While inexpensive Chinese-made instruments have become available recently, we strongly recommend European or Japanese-made bassoons for their tone quality, intonation, maintainability, and durability. We hope this instrument will be considered not only by those looking to purchase a high-end German bassoon but also by students, oboists, and English horn players.
