Carry hot or cold beverage with this ceramic Growler from Rare Barrel Brewery in Berkeley Ca. It holds 32 Oz of your favorite beverage. The Flip-top lid locks in carbonation and seals in the freshness for days. The durable thick walled, stoneware clay body acts as a natural insulator and keep those UV rays from affecting the flavor of your favorite microbrew. Historical Background The Rare Barrel brewed its first batch of beer in February 2013, and opened its tasting room on 12-27-13. The Rare Barrel was named for phi a barrel used to make the original batch of La Folie in 2000 by New Belgium Brewing based out of Fort Collins, Colorado. The Phi barrel was gifted to The Rare Barrel by New Belgium in 2015 is used to age dark sour beer. The Rare Barrel only makes sour beers which are aged for an extended period of time in oak barrels for anywhere from 6 to 36 months. Their beers are fermented with a combination of Brettanomyces yeast and Lactobacillus and/or Pediococcus bacteria. Lactobacillus and Pediococcus bacteria are both responsible for creating lactic acid and acetic acid, which make the beers acidic and taste sour. The Rare Barrel produces its brews in small-batch quantities, which can range anywhere from 1 to 10 oak barrels. The brewery and their on-site tasting room are no longer in business. This listing is for an empty and sanitized Growler from The Rare Barrel - Ambassador program. Now, a rare and hard to find Souvenir and Memorabilia item. 7-28-26
