Mikan Nagi is a series of works themed around young girls serving the gods in Shintoism, and it is one of the series that touches upon the core of Kyosuke Chinai's worldview. This is a highly accomplished piece, featuring a lithograph printed on Japanese paper, with precise depictions of kimono patterns and vibrant hand-coloring. As an authorized lithograph supervised and approved by the artist himself, its authenticity is confirmed by his handwritten signature and artist's seal (vermilion stamp). About Kyosuke Chinai Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1948, he graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School. His style, based on mono no aware (the pathos of things), utilizing traditional Japanese beauty such as costume patterns and the beauty of nature, creates Chinai's unique fantasy world in combination with his distinctive techniques. He has held solo exhibitions at Galerie Tamenaga in France in 2002, 2004, and 2019, and has captivated collectors worldwide, with many of his works being collected by the Rothschild family, one of Europe's foremost collectors.
