Antique Petroscan Zanesville OH Pottery Co. Hard Porcelain Lidded Casserole Dish, 7.75”H Iridescent Caramel Drip Glaze Casserole dish was manufactured by The Ohio Pottery Company in Zanesville, Ohio, specifically between 1922-1923. Antique OH Pottery casserole dishes often feature a distinct brown glaze. They typically include a matching lid with a decorative knob. The Petroscan stamp denotes a line introduced by the company in 1922. It designated a specialized line of durable, hard porcelain cookware and serving pieces marketed as heat proof, lead-less glaze & guaranteed to not craze Because The Ohio Pottery Co merged with another entity and changed its name to the Fraunfelter Pottery Co in 1923, pieces bearing this exact stamp were only produced just 2 years. Now, the original OH Pottery provenance is quite rare Origin: Zanesville, OH Time Period: 1922-1923 Materials: porcelain, iridescent glaze Dimensions: 4.75”H with lid, bowl 2.5”H, 7.75”Diameter, 2”D, Lid 2.25”H x 7”Diameter Excellent antique condition. The base of the bowl has some scuffing and the Petroscan stamp remains intact. The iridescent brown drip glaze is stunning and still shines over 100 years later. There are a few blemishes here and there, expected from a piece this age. The inside of the casserole dish looks great. The inner rim is discolored from use. It presents beautifully and is a great piece of early oven-to-table Americana cookware. See all photos. Sold as is.
