Rare Antique 19th Century English Brown Transferware Pastoral Scene Lamp Base, Romantic Landscape Figural/Molded Handle Vase Later Converted to a Table Lamp, Vessel Shaped Lamps, Scenic Landscape Pottery Lam Base With Ornate Handles - Works ( see pictures), little chip at the top ( see pictures) - A truly unusual antique decorative piece featuring an older brown transfer-printed earthenware. - The substantial cream-colored pottery body is richly decorated in sepia-brown transferware with an elaborate Romantic landscape scene wrapping around the vessel. - The imagery includes distant mountains, water, an arched bridge, architectural structures, trees and beautifully detailed figures in period dress. - At some point in its history, the original pottery vessel appears to have been professionally repurposed as a table lamp, with a fitted wooden top supporting the lamp hardware. This gives the piece wonderful old-world character while preserving the elaborate ceramic body. - A fabulous statement piece for an English country, traditional, Ralph Lauren-inspired, grandmillennial, old-world, library, study, lodge or collected European interior. - Condition: Antique/vintage condition with visible crazing, discoloration, wear and other age-related character throughout. - Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. Electrical components should always be inspected by a qualified professional before use.
