Thank you for viewing. This piece was acquired several years ago from a trusted collector. It is a genuine work by Yokokura Yojiro, a master craftsman who has made his mark on the history of Nambu ironware. This is not merely an antique; it has been refined as a practical item for enjoying the finest hot water in modern life. ▫️ Thorough Cultivation and Condition The rust that was once visible due to age has been sealed by repeatedly performing the boiling with green tea (tannin-iron formation) recommended by professionals. The rust is now stable, and the kettle has been nurtured until the hot water boils clear. Water Leak Check: During several hours of standing tests and actual boiling, no leaks or seeps were observed. Internal Condition: An ideal water scale (limescale) has formed, making the boiled water surprisingly smooth. It has achieved the ultimate aging as a practical item. ▫️ Aesthetic Form and Design Arare Pattern: A robust and refined arare pattern is applied all over, creating deep shadows depending on the light. Form: A refined, slightly squared shape that combines the sturdy simplicity of Nambu ironware with the elegance of Kyoto iron kettles. Integral Lid (Iron): A robust, unified beauty that seems integrated with the body. Even the sound when opening and closing the lid carries the soul of the master craftsman. Please experience firsthand the essence of an iron kettle, crafted with passion in every strike by artisans of the Edo and Meiji periods, which stands apart from recent inexpensive cast ironware. ▫️ Size Total Height (including handle): Approx. 23cm Body Diameter: Approx. 17cm It will be carefully packed and shipped promptly. I hope to pass this iron kettle on to someone who understands its historical value and will continue to nurture it for the next several decades. #YokokuraYojiro #Yojiro #NambuIronware #IronKettle #Antique #Curio #TeaCeremonyUtensils #IntegralLid #Ryubundo #KyotoIronKettle #OnceInALifetime #WabiSabi #FineArt Click here for the manufacturer's site Easy to find furniture and interiors!
