A pair of antique Belgian Flanders lace doilies, perfect for coasters, featuring a decorative rim and beautiful eyelet embroidery depicting drooping roses. (Also listed individually, but this set offers a slight discount.) Drooping roses... flags, ribbons, hearts... even crouching figures and monkeys... Mysterious deformations... abstract, perhaps. Flanders bobbin lace embroidery woven with beautiful and playful motifs. Elegant white thread embroidery. Both feature delicate picots around the entire edge. The front and back are virtually indistinguishable, both beautiful. Please excuse any errors in the amateur measurements below. ① Image 1, top Antique Flanders Lace Drooping Rose Triple Eyelet Cross ✙ Doily A cool, drawn-thread (eyelet-style) embroidery created by hand-stitching on a sheer lawn fabric with threads pulled out. A rare, triple eyelet cross/crucifix ✙ that enhances the delicate atmosphere and evokes a sense of coolness. The fabric is thin with a sheer feel, woven with fine threads. Extremely smooth and soft to the touch. It has a slight sheen and luster. The fabric material is imagined to be high-quality linen, or possibly a cotton blend. The color is a rich cream ivory. An nuanced ecru with hints of yellow and pale grassy khaki. A gentle and elegant tone that evokes the natural color of plants. Diameter: approx. 14.2 cm Center fabric diameter: approx. 7.4 cm Weight: approx. 1-2g Possibly unused. In good condition with no noticeable scratches or stains. ② Same, bottom Antique Flanders Lace Drooping Rose Eyelet Lattice Embroidery Doily The center is a sheer, thin (lawn) fabric woven with very fine threads. The cool drawn-thread (eyelet) work and couching embroidery resemble crosses ✙ or diagonal hedges. A 5-hole mesh that looks like diamonds ◇ surrounded by small dots. Delicate and lovely picot lace ➰ edging around the entire rim. The threads have a slight sheen and luster, imagined to be linen, or possibly a cotton and linen blend. The color is an elegant ivory, a gentle and nuanced ecru. A whiter tone than ①. Diameter: 13.6-13.4 cm Fabric diameter: 8.3-8.4 cm Weight: approx. 1-2g There appears to be a repair mark at the seam, but it is in clean condition with no stains. Cleaned and hygienic.
