A petite piece of Old Baccarat, this antique French crystal mustard pot dates to approximately 1900 and is rendered in Baccarat’s celebrated Bambou Tors pattern. The substantial clear crystal is molded into dramatic spiraling ribs, finished with a scalloped rim and matching domed lid topped by a sculptural twisted finial. The piece is mold-signed BACCARAT / DÉPOSÉ, an early marking associated with Baccarat production before the introduction of the house’s later acid-etched circular trademark. History & Craftsmanship The Bambou Tors, or “twisted bamboo,” pattern emerged during Baccarat’s historic late-19th- and early-20th-century production. Its distinctive swirling construction gives the crystal a remarkable sense of movement: sweeping ribs twist around the body while the scalloped borders catch and refract light. This diminutive covered vessel was originally designed as a mustard or condiment pot, transforming an everyday table object into something beautifully sculptural. Maker: Baccarat Pattern: Bambou Tors Origin: France Date: Circa 1900; late 19th–early 20th century Material: Crystal Mark: Mold-signed BACCARAT / DÉPOSÉ Dimensions: Approx. 4.7” H × 3.5” diameter (12 × 9 cm) Includes: Crystal vessel and matching lid; original spoon not present Condition Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. There are two light scratches, as shown in last two photos, that are difficult to see given the design of the crystal.
