It is a fully patterned (continuous pattern) obi woven with gold and silver threads, with luxurious patterns extending from end to end. A Maru Obi is a very substantial obi, made by folding a wide fabric (approx. 70cm wide) with a luxurious pattern woven throughout into two, inserting an obi lining, and sewing one side. In the past, it was used for formal attire such as bridal kimonos and tomesode.
