Striking vintage solid cast brass reclining cat sculpture featuring a long graceful body, extended legs, curled tail, and downward-turned head. This is an exceptionally substantial decorative piece, measuring over 11 long and weighing more than 3 lbs. The stylized form has a wonderful Mid-Century Modern appearance with smooth flowing lines and understated facial details. The sculpture has a warm naturally aged brass finish with areas of darkened patina and small spots of green oxidation/verdigris. The underside exposes the yellow-gold metal and shows characteristics of the casting and finishing process. A magnet does not adhere to the sculpture, further supporting the brass identification. Remnants of what appears to have been an old protective felt or paper covering remain underneath. No maker’s mark or signature was found. Estimated to date to approximately the 1960s–1970s. Details: • Vintage reclining cat sculpture • Solid cast brass • Mid-Century Modern styling • Unmarked / maker unknown • Estimated 1960s–1970s • Approx. 11.25 L × 5.5 W × 4.25 H • Weight: approx. 3 lb 3.3 oz Condition: Good vintage condition with natural patina, scratches, scuffs, finish variation, darker areas, and small spots of verdigris. Underside has considerable surface wear and remnants of an old protective covering. Left unpolished to preserve the aged finish. Please review all photos carefully.
