Purchased at a Snow Peak directly managed store in Winter 2024. There are scratches and dirt from use. Please judge from the photos. This is the 5th collaboration item from TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance and Snow Peak. The TDS Niobium Concept 3 is a world-first 2-way ultimate snow boot that aims to create unique products by fusing Snow Peak's high-spec products, backed by rigorous field testing, with the functionality and quality that New Balance has cultivated over its 117-year history, incorporated as design details. It is the ultimate pair for outdoor activities during the snow season. It features a sole unit inspired by the popular MT580 off-road trail running model from the 1990s. The flat sole shape with a wide landing area is characterized by excellent stability. The lightweight and robust graphite material ROLLBAR is used in the arch of the midsole to prevent overpronation (when the foot rolls inward upon landing, making it unable to absorb shock to the entire foot). Furthermore, it is equipped with a Vibram® outsole for enhanced durability and grip on wet surfaces. The upper has a double structure: an outer shell made of waterproof and breathable eVent material, and an inner boot made of lightweight PRIMALOFT® insulation with excellent heat retention and water repellency. Designed for use both inside and outside tents during winter camping, the inner boot can be removed from the outer shell and used as room shoes. The outer shell of the boot is finished in a white and light gray gradient, inspired by the silvery white snowfield. The inner boot features a texture inspired by the cold winter sky, with a graphic excerpt from the poem Kenji Miyazawa's 'Ame ni mo Makezu' (Be Not Defeated by the Rain), stoically expressing the majesty of nature and the introspective side of humanity.
