Purchased new on January 16, 2024. As widely praised, the sound quality is exceptional. Whether recording via microphone or line input, the recording quality is sure to improve. A convenient feature is that the mic pre, compressor, EQ, and output transformer are all powered by a single cable. I was previously connecting the Shelford Channel after my amp simulator, but my setup has changed. I now need to send stereo 2-channel audio to my interface, so I am selling this unit. *Ideally, I would have liked to use two Shelford Channels, but due to budget constraints, I've decided to compromise on sound quality and use different equipment. The unit is in perfect working order, but the illumination for one of the VU meters has failed. *Please check the photos. This is a beautiful unit, used only in a non-smoking, pet-free home studio. Thank you for considering it. [Excerpt from another website] The ultimate channel strip featuring a mic pre, EQ, and compressor. This is the culmination of Rupert Neve's unique technologies used in his classic console modules, with the latest tuning for the 21st-century recording studio. ■ Mic Preamp with Input Stage and Transformer Gain Specifications A custom transformer with a direct-coupled input stage and gain control is used. The precise integration of the input transformer and surrounding circuitry enhances its unique character. ■ Dual-Tap Transformer Output and Variable Silk Circuit Features the newly developed square-core dual-tap output transformer, RN2042. Optimized for both high and low output headroom, it delivers a pure and dynamic sound. ■ Direct Input Equipped with a discrete Class A FET transformer-based Hi-Z input. ■ Best of Classic EQ A special 3-band EQ that combines the best aspects of classic modules like the 1064 and 1073 for the low/mid bands, with a modern design for the high band. ■ Diode Bridge Compressor While retaining the charm of classic EQs, it significantly overcomes their weaknesses. Features a compressor that suits any source. Click here for the manufacturer's site
