Hechi Rod, Japanese Bamboo Rod Hechi Rod, Bamboo Rod Sakazu Kobo Sakazu Special Selection 7.8 Shaku Total Length: 7.8 Shaku Closed Length: Approx. 135 cm Weight: Approx. 126 grams Lacquer finish in Sakazu's signature uguisu (Japanese bush warbler) green. The grip at the handle is made from the root of a *dantiku* bamboo. Grip diameter: Approx. 1.7 cm The body is made of *hoteichiku* bamboo. Body diameter (excluding nodes): Approx. 1.1 cm Reel seat: FUJI FS-5 (This reel seat is discontinued, and fewer Japanese bamboo rods are now made with it.) Guides: 17 in total (Okada Seisakusho guides, with rings likely made of SIC or CD. Please refer to the Okada Seisakusho website for details.) This is a Special Selection Japanese bamboo rod from Sakazu, a top-tier model comparable to their Rasetsu and Doppo models. Accessories Stopper (with Sakazu's brand mark, Photo 11) Tip sheath (with Sakazu's brand mark, Photo 18) Rod bag (used for storage, slightly dirty.) The spigot joint fits snugly with no play (Photo 11). Photo 16 shows an example with a Jitsuri reel made by Tsuruya attached (reel not included). Photo 20 shows the rod lifting 500ml of water. There are no noticeable scratches, but please understand that as this is a Japanese bamboo rod made from natural bamboo, it may have inherent spots or minor imperfections from its natural growth. After use, it is wiped with a well-wrung cloth, dried in the shade, and the guides are cleaned with a brush before storage. It has occasionally been polished with beeswax. It will be carefully packed in a custom-made cardboard box for shipping. Personal impression... This is a very old Japanese bamboo rod, but it has the slim and lightweight design trending in recent years. The fight with a fish is unique to Japanese bamboo rods and is very enjoyable. Recommended for those looking for a traditional short rod in the 7-8 shaku range. Please purchase with the understanding that this is a used item and has been stored at home.
