Zeiss Ikon refers to the camera brand of Zeiss Ikon, a major German camera manufacturer established in 1926. Carl Zeiss Jena indicates that the lens or optical components were manufactured by Carl Zeiss in Jena (East Germany). This inscription is commonly found on optical equipment from the pre-war and early post-war periods. Nr. 1158875 This is the serial number, used to identify the manufacturing date and specific lens or component. Zeiss Ikon cameras, particularly from the 1930s to the 1950s, were often equipped with Carl Zeiss Jena lenses (e.g., Tessar, Sonnar). Manufactured approximately from the late 1920s to the mid-1930s. Likely from the pre-World War II or early wartime period. The Tessar is highly regarded, known as the eagle eye, and was frequently used in mid-to-high-end models of the time. Cocarette → Early to mid-stage folding camera Tessar lens Compur shutter This combination represents quite good specifications for its era. This is not a cheap item, but a proper, higher-end model.
