The HLD-100 (or the improved HLD-100+) is a portable halogen leak detector primarily used to pinpoint refrigerant leaks in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems such as air conditioners and refrigerators. Key Features and Specifications The main performance of models like the Elitech HLD-100+ includes: Compatible Refrigerants: Detects all halogenated refrigerants, including CFCs (like R12), HCFCs (like R22), HFCs (like R134a, R410A), and their mixed refrigerants. High Sensitivity: With a maximum sensitivity of 3g/year (or 0.11oz/yr), it can detect even the smallest leaks. Adjustable Sensitivity: Sensitivity can be adjusted in 7 levels, allowing for fine-tuning based on ambient conditions to pinpoint leak sources. Alerts: When a leak is detected, it notifies you with a buzzer sound and flashing LED lights. The more severe the leak, the faster the sound and flashing speed. Ease of Use: Features a flexible probe approximately 35cm (13.98 inches) long, making it ideal for inspecting narrow spaces and hard-to-reach pipe connections. Basic Usage Power On: Press the power button and wait for the warm-up period (approx. 6-10 seconds). Battery Check: Check the remaining battery level via the indicator (Green: Good, Orange: Low, Red: Needs replacement). Scan: Hold the tip of the probe 1-3cm away from suspected leak areas (like joints and valves) and move it at a speed of approximately 1cm/sec. Reset Function: In areas with high background refrigerant concentration, press the RESET button to set that concentration to zero, allowing you to detect even more concentrated leak sources. Maintenance Tips Protect the Sensor Tip: Be careful not to let the sensor tip come into direct contact with compressor oil, moisture, or dirt, as this can cause malfunctions or false readings. Replace the Tip: The sensor tip is a consumable part. If the response becomes sluggish or if the alarm continues to sound in a clean environment, replace it with the included spare tip.
