Metal parts are stainless steel, blade is steel? (it has rusted)]. I believe the movable parts are in good condition. When you lift the handle with the blade, it moves forward in a stroke. The thickness of the noodles and the length of the stroke change depending on how high you lift it. You can cut noodles to your desired thickness by making the stroke smaller for thin noodles like soba and larger for thick noodles like udon. The mat is a consumable item, but the current surface is in reasonably good condition (though it has stains...). The back has fine cracks due to deterioration. The wooden parts of the stand show signs of wear from use. One of the crossbars is missing, perhaps to prevent warping of the bottom.
